Just curious, isn't 百姓 more commonly refer to "common people" or "peasants" than "farmer"? My chinese is much more proficient than my Japanese, and 百姓 means common people. Maybe because most common people in the past are farmers that's why it is got it's meaning. Hope someone can resolve my confusion 😃

You are correct, however in the context of this particular story, "farmer" is more adequate. The opening lines describe how the protagonist is looking for a new cow before the next harvest. But you are right, more often the word is used to refer to commoners or peasants. Hope this helps :)

Enjoying these little snippets and, yes the standard of the photos is very high. The geek nerd in me is curious what camera do you normally use?

Thanks so much!! I use a combination of the Sony α7cii with the 35mm f1.4 GM and 85mm f1.4 GMii, and the Leica Q3 which has a fixed 28mm f1.7 Summilux lens :)
