This immersion reading project is a bit different. I felt that the previous projects were too long and the last thing I want is for you to run out of steam halfway through the story.
So I decided to make a change. The sixth immersion reading project will run for just three days, starting tomorrow, Friday 22 April and ending on Sunday 24 April. We’ll read just one page a day for the first two days. The text for this project (see below) is very accessible and the pages are short. This way, more people can join in.
On Sunday, I’ll organize another Zoom call at 3pm Amsterdam time, during which we’ll go through the actual text together. Here you can ask all of your questions and we’ll read some passages together.
We’ll read from Yoshimoto Banana’s「キッチン」which I have scanned for you in its entirety so that you can keep reading on your own after the project ends. Use the link below to download the file. It’ll only be available for the duration of the project. When the project ends the link will disappear forever.
Awesome ! Just read the first page. Are these 70 pages the whole book ? Western editions mention a 160-180 pages length so I'm curious. I might want to read the whole thing but will probably buy a french or english language edition to fall back on.
Thank you once again for this opportunity and yes I will join, but I have just recovered from a severe flu, with high fever, still very tiered, so I will see what I'm able to do.
Looking forward to finally jumping in on one of these- thank you for organizing this and for your wonderful newsletter! I think Kitchen was one of the first Japanese novels I read in translation, so I'm excited to read it in the original ^_^

Very good morning!
I will read the Kitchen, definitely. What page we start with? From the very begining?
