what do you mean by "negative effect"? just to be sure: the passive form here is used as an honorific.

I reviewed a bit, the を in passive consttuction always puzzles me.

•Indirect passive, neg. effect

僕はトムにたばこを吸われた

•Polite passive

仕事をしておられた

仕事をしておりになります

•••

It it still makes sense when swapping for マスstem + になります, then it is polite passive.

I don't think しておおりになる exists. you could say していらっしゃる instead. but neither are passive forms.

the point i was trying to make was that one of the functions of the passive form itself honorific. for example, お酒は飲まれますか in most cases means "do you drink alcohol?", not "is the alcohol being drunk in a way that causes you trouble?". it thus depends on the context whether the passive form is used as a 迷惑の受け身 or as an honorific.

Its the fact that theres an object marker with a passive form, which makes no sense in my tongue.

Thanks for the answer,

迷惑の受け身📝
