Recording 2 new points I learned:
～とみえる --> to seem
(まだ灯している)とみえた --> seemed (still to be alight)
～に過ぎない --> only, merely
(反射しているの)にすぎなかった --> only (reflect)ed
It's always cool to see that there's still so much to learn, even from short passages such as this one!
There's a good movie about mishima's life, he lead an interesting one.

I wonder why 身 is not there, is it not a common み name part?

公園でバラや百合や今花ざかりです
I saw 憂国 and thought it as purgatory, but it's patriotism. You could hear 'a mi la patria me duele' in spanish, 'homeland hurts'.
In the text, it puzzled me, the very last bit:
〜のにすぎなかった
It wasn't more than〜
It only was〜
Yeah I think I've seen it, it's a cool movie.
But I don't think I've seen 身 in names all that often...
