In response to my post on immersion learning, one of the Bunsuke community members (Harry) posted that he would like to put immersion learning into practice over the summer. We decided to make a project out of it, so that the entire community is able to participate. Here’s what it will look like.
The immersion reading project will last five days: Tuesday 27 July - Saturday 31 July.
We’ll read a short story by Murakami Haruki of about 20 pages. This works out to about 4 pages per day.
At the end of each day (9 pm Amsterdam time), I’ll post a discussion thread to which Harry will post his questions concerning the segment that we read that day. Everyone is encouraged to read along, join the discussion, and post questions to these daily threads. The threads will stay open so that you can respond at a time that is convenient for you, but ideally, the bulk of the group discussion will take place within the 24 hours before next day’s discussion.
I’ll make scans and post a Google Docs link to a pdf document tomorrow (Monday 26 July).
The daily discussions will replace the regular posts for the duration of the project.
I hope that many of you will join this short but focused project and that it will help jumpstart your immersion learning journey.
This is a great idea! I can't make this one, but I would love to join another immersive reading session in the future if you decide to hold another one.

This is such a cool idea! Normally I would lack the motivation to try going for a book, but having other people interacting makes it a lot more engaging.
