#66　太宰治『斜陽』

スウプに限らず、お母さまのお食事のいただき方は、頗る礼法にはずれている。お肉が出ると、ナイフとフオクで、さっさと全部小さく切りわけてしまって、それからナイフを捨て、フオクを右手に持ちかえ、その一きれ一きれをフオクに刺してゆっくり楽しそうに召し上がっていらっしゃる。

Translation:

Mother's way of consuming a meal, not just soup, is far removed from etiquette. When meat is served, she swiftly cuts the whole thing up into pieces with her knife and fork, gets rid of her knife, switches the fork to her right hand, skewers each piece on her fork one by one, and slowly enjoys her meal.
