この話を読んでどこかで聞いたことのある話だと思った人は、わたしの口から直接その話を聞いたことがあったのかもしれないし、別の小説に別の形で現れた人とそっくりであることに気がついたのかもしれない。何度も話していれば手垢がついてしまうが、それはそれでちょうど骨董品が収集家の手の垢で磨かれていくのと同じでいいのではないかと思う。
