母さんお窓をしめましよう、
もう郭公鳥は鳴きませぬ。

林の虹も消えました、
沼には靄がおりました。

母さんお窓をしめましよう、
風がひえひえいたします。

もうすぐ夜が来るのです。
もう郭公鳥も鳴きませぬ。

病気がおもるといけませぬ。
母さんお窓をしめましよう、
ランプに灯もいれましよう。

Mother, let’s close the window,
The cuckoo has ceased its song.

The rainbow above the woods has vanished,
The fog has descended upon the marsh.

I don’t want you to get any sicker.

And let’s light a lamp.
