Translation:
In a sense you could say I was a lucky person when three and a half months into my life in Chennai I experienced a once-in-a-century flood.
The day before it had rained heavily all day long. In the afternoon, I’d finished my class early and sent the students home, but when I openend the window the next morning, the surroundings of my apartment had turned into a coffee-colored river.

Lmao I can relate to this so harddd. My house gets flooded a few times a year and the rain usually wakes me up from my sleep and if it's raining hard enough, that means I and my family have to move our stuff to the second floor because the rain will almost definitely get inside the house. It isn't pretty and afterwards, when the rain has stopped and the water has receded, we have to clean the house together. It's a really arduous and laborious task.
