#84 伊坂幸太郎「逆ソクラテス」
リビングのソファに腰を下ろし、ダイニングテーブルから持ってきたリモコンを操作する。買ったばかりの大画面テレビはまだ他の家具とは馴染んでおらず、態度の大きな転校生、しかも都心から田舎町にやってきた生徒のような、違和感を滲ませていた。

Grammar:
~ばかり
When this word follows a simple past tense, it indicates that the action has only just taken place. For example, when someone asks you if you’re hungry, you can reply (informally) with: いや、食べたばかりだからお腹は空いていないよ (= No, I just ate so I’m not hungry).
Translation:
I sat down on the living room sofa, and operated the remote control I brought over from the dining table. The large screen television I had just bought didn’t yet fit in with the other pieces of furniture, and, like a transfer student with an attitude, one that had come from the big city to a rural town, gave off an uncomfortable feeling.

Wow, that comparison with transfer student was hilarious xD If the whole book is like that I want to read it.
