Vocabulary:
Koda Aya (author, 1904-1990)
寝皺 ねじわ crease in bed sheets/mattress
Translation:
While lying on her side, she stretched out her thin hand and pushed back the layers of the duvet with the crimson print. Using her other hand for support she raised up her upper body while pulling in her knees, and sat up with her legs sideways. Extracting her body from the bed, she got up gently, without leaving so much as a crease in the mattress.

I knew of
跳ねる to hop, jump, skip
and 撥ねる to hit s/o w/ a car or,
to splash water on pedestrians while drivin.
In this last sense, it can also be used to reject or refuse, or to exclude, leave out.
So, はねておいて is like "taking out of the way", removing each layer like splashes of water.
