ここに内発的と云うのは内から自然に出て発展するという意味でちょうど花が開くようにおのずから蕾が破れて花弁が外に向うのを云い、また外発的とは外からおっかぶさった他の力でやむをえず一種の形式を取るのを指したつもりなのです。

Translation:

When I say spontaneously, I mean it comes naturally from within and develops as such, just like a blooming flower that breaks out of its bud and turns its petals outward of its own accord, whereas the term extrinsic refers to something reluctantly taking on a certain form because of a different force imposed from outside.
