わたくしは家へかえって其夜すぐフィルムを現像して見た。露出は思ったよりもよくできていたが、ふと気がついて見れば、勲章のつけどころが規則通りではなく、軍服の胸の右側になっていた。

Translation:

When I returned home that evening I developed the film immediately. The exposure turned out better than I had expected, but all of a sudden I noticed that the medal was pinned in the wrong place, on the right side of the chest of the army uniform.
