山椒魚は悲しんだ。

彼は彼の棲家である岩屋から外に出てみようとしたのであるが、頭が出口につかえて外に出ることができなかったのである。今はもはや、彼にとっては永遠の棲家である岩屋は、出入口のところがそんなに狭かった。

Translation:

The salamander was sad.

He had tried to go out of the cave where he lived, but his head was stuck at the exit and he could not go out. The opening of the cave that was now his eternal home was that narrow.
