いつのまにか、彼の気持は杳子の遊戯になじんだ。すると杳子のありかが、目には見えなくても、林の中をたえず動きまわる一点の気配として、確に伝わってくるように感じられた。ときには、茂みという茂みが杳子のひそむ気配を宿してふくらむことがあった。
