午前十一時から営業をはじめているのに、客はひとりもあらわれなかった。木曜日はいつもこんな調子だからべつに驚きはしなかったが、夜の九時をまわったところで見切りをつけて、壁面照明の電源をすべて落とした。

Translation:

I opened the store at 11 o’clock in the morning, but not one customer showed up. It’s always this quiet on Thursdays, so I wasn’t all that surprised, but around 9 o’clock in the evening I decided to call it quits and dimmed all the lights on the wall.
