大きな台風や小台風が次々と襲って来ていた季節で、私の喘息の発作が起りそうな気配のため、会社を休んでいるときだった。

私の全身は精密な測定器と化して、気圧や湿度の微細な変化に従って、あちこちの指針がぶるぶるとその先端を震わせているようだった。

Translation:

It was the season in which large and small typhoons struck one after the other, and because I had the feeling that I might have an asthma attack, I had taken time off work.

My entire body had turned into a precise measuring instrument, and it seemed as if, with every subtle shift in atmospheric pressure or humidity, the tips of the indicators were quivering all over.
